This guide takes you step-by-step through the process of setting up a new email account in Outlook 2000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note<\/em>: This guide defaults to IMAP<\/a> and No SSL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Replace your-domain<\/em>\u00a0with your domain name<\/p>\n

Add a new email account<\/h3>\n

1. Launch Microsoft Outlook 2000
\n2. Select Tools<\/b> from the top menu bar and then Accounts<\/b><\/p>\n

New account<\/h3>\n

3. Click Add<\/b>, and then click Mail <\/b>to open the Internet Connection Wizard.<\/p>\n

Enter your name<\/h3>\n

4. Enter your Name<\/b> (which will appear in the “From” field in your emails), then click Next<\/b><\/p>\n

Enter your email address<\/h3>\n

5. Enter your Email address<\/b>, then click Next<\/b><\/p>\n

Server settings<\/h3>\n

6. Enter the name of the Incoming mail server<\/b> i.e. pop.your-domain.com
\n7. Enter the name of the Outgoing mailer server<\/b> i.e. smtp.your-domain.com
\n8. Click Next<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Internet Mail Logon<\/h3>\n

9. Enter your Account name<\/b> (your full email address e.g. you@your-domain.com) and the password specified when the mailbox was created in your control panel, then click Next<\/b><\/p>\n

Select your Internet connection<\/h3>\n

10. Select the appropriate Internet connection for your system, then click Next<\/b><\/p>\n

Setup complete<\/h3>\n

11. Follow the relevant instructions for your connection (if any), click Next<\/b> and then click Finish<\/b><\/p>\n

Check your account<\/h3>\n

12. Outlook will now build the Outlook Toolbar, and then open up your Inbox. Go to the Tools<\/b> menu, click Accounts<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Select the relevant account<\/h3>\n

13. Click on the Mail<\/b> tab at the top. You should see your new account listed here. Select it and click Properties<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Outgoing Server Settings<\/h3>\n

14. Click on the Servers <\/b>tab at the top.
\n15. Ensure that the My server requires authentication<\/b> checkbox (underneath Outgoing Mail Server) is ticked.
\n16. Click on the Settings<\/b> button to the right.<\/p>\n

Outgoing Mail Server<\/h3>\n

17. Ensure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server<\/b> is selected, then click OK<\/b><\/p>\n

18. Click on the Advanced tab<\/b><\/p>\n

Advanced Settings<\/h3>\n

19. Ensure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot. In particular, check that:
\n*The Incoming server<\/b> (POP) port is set to the default (110)
\n*The Outgoing server<\/b> (SMTP) port is set to 587
\n20. Click OK<\/b>, then Next<\/b> and Finish<\/b>.<\/p>\n

You should now be set up to send and receive email.<\/p>\n
