Hetzner now offers free Let\u2019s Encrypt SSL<\/strong>\/TLS domain validation certificates automatically with all hosting packages, providing the trusted green padlock icon<\/strong> and HTTPS<\/strong> in the browser address field.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s Encrypt<\/span><\/a> is a new, free, automated and open certificate authority (CA), run for the public\u2019s benefit to<\/span> make encrypted connections the default standard throughout the internet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, installing SSL certificates was costly and cumbersome, however Let\u2019s Encrypt has enabled Hetzner to automate the installation and renewal of SSL certificates. For this reason, we now offer free SSL \u2013\u00a0no setup or annual fees apply.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

SSL encryption is beneficial for all websites; not just those that process credit card information. Having an HTTPS address inspires trust<\/strong> in your website as visitors have confidence that data is securely encrypted.<\/strong>\u00a0In addition, SSL can benefit your search results ranking<\/strong>, as HTTPS websites are preferred by Google Search.<\/span><\/p>\n

All websites hosted with Hetzner now\u00a0have Let\u2019s Encrypt SSL installed by default as part of the hosting package.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How do I know if SSL is activated for my website?<\/h2>\n

If your site loads normally when the https:\/\/<\/strong> prefix is added to your domain name, and a padlock<\/strong> appears in the browser address field, then SSL activation is complete.<\/p>\n
