Why do I need to pay before registering a domain name?

We’ve updated the way domain orders are processed to better protect your account.

What’s new?

You’ll now be asked to complete payment before we register your domain via the xneelo Control Panel. This small change adds an extra layer of security and helps prevent fraudulent activity or unauthorised registrations on your account.

Why the change?

We’ve introduced upfront payment for standalone domain registrations to enhance security and ensure only authorised purchases are processed. This change protects your account from unauthorised orders, helps prevent fraud, and enables us to continue delivering reliable, high-quality service.

Payment for domain registrations:

  • Card payment is required upfront, regardless of whether you are on a Cash or Debit Order payment method.
  • You will be directed to a secure payment gateway to complete the transaction using a debit or credit card payment.
  • EFT or debit order is not accepted for the initial domain registration payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

For additional information, please refer to the questions below:

  • Will my account’s payment method change?

No. This new payment process for standalone domains will not change your existing account’s payment method for hosting or renewals. Your regular billing will continue to be processed via your existing Cash or Debit Order arrangement.

  • What if I don’t want to share card details with others?

If you don’t want to use or share your main company card details, many banks offer the option to generate a secure, virtual card for online payments. These are temporary card numbers linked to your existing account and are designed for safer online transactions. You may want to check with your bank if this is available.

  • I'm a debit order customer. Why do I still need to pay by card?

This new upfront payment method is specifically for standalone domain registrations and is separate from your regular hosting payments. It’s a security measure to prevent fraudulent activity and requires a card payment regardless of your regular payment method.

  • Is my card information safe?

Yes. You will be directed to a secure, third-party payment gateway to complete your transaction. Your card information is not stored on our systems.

Assist Note

Please note that this change only applies to the initial domain registration and will not affect your domain renewals.

Assist Tip

Your account’s payment method (Cash or Debit Order) will remain the same.
