xneelo’s Samrand Data Centre Park was featured in a previous edition of the MyBroadband print magazine. Data centres are specially constructed facilities that house the infrastructure and hardware needed for hosting and operating IT systems, hosting servers, storage, and network equipment. The MyBroadband editorial team visited the site to give their readers a view of our facility, providing facts and photographs of our data centre.
Behind the scenes at Samrand
In building our own facility, xneelo identified an opportunity in the South African market to lower the barrier of entry into the colocation market as well as uncomplicate the product in terms of the sign-up process and the simplicity of our 24/7 unattended access.
High availability
Our Samrand Data Centre offers uninterrupted power through 2N fully redundant, physically-separated A+B feeds and can run indefinitely without utility power using its diesel generators.
Carrier neutrality
The data centre offers a carrier-neutral model for customers, providing freedom of choice as to who they use for upstream service providers and point-to-point connections.
Energy-efficient
The facility’s effective and efficient cooling system features N+2 redundancy on all air conditioning units. When ambient temperature allows for it, the data centre makes use of free cooling – achieved through our proprietary air conditioning system.
