26 years of caring for sick children
The Children’s Hospital Trust is an independent non-profit organisation (NPO). It was established in 1994 to raise funds to support specific projects and programmes to advance child healthcare through the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The Hospital is the first stand-alone tertiary hospital exclusively for children in sub-Saharan Africa.
Advancing child healthcare
Did you know that the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital manages around 250 000 patient visits and treats on average 45 000 seriously ill and injured children in its Emergency Centre each year?
This iconic institution constantly needs help to keep operating and saving lives. From upgrades to its buildings and facilities, to the implementation of several projects and programmes and upskilling of medical professionals from across Africa, the trust has facilitated the investment of over R1 billion since 1994.
Emergency Centre upgrade
“Right now, your support matters more than ever,” explains Lamees Martin, the PR and Events Manager. “The Hospital’s Emergency Centre requires an urgent upgrade. It is not adequately equipped to support the thousands of children coming through its doors due to limited space, overcrowding and inefficient logistics.”
With the COVID-19 pandemic in full swing, the Hospital and its dedicated staff on the frontline are under greater pressure to support the influx of children.
