How does xneelo calculate the cost for disk space over-usage?
If you’re on a Web Hosting package or Volume Plan, this article explains how we calculate charges when your disk space usage exceeds the allocated limit.
Web Hosting disk space over-usage
We will automatically calculate the most cost-effective rate possible for our customers.
Below is an example of the two methods used to calculate disk usage.
E.g. a Basic account includes a quota of 15 GB but is currently using 19 GB of disk space in total, which is 4 GB of over-usage.
The first scenario would be to pay for 4 GB of additional disk space at R20 per 1 GB or part thereof, which will cost R80.
The second scenario would be to determine the cost difference between a Basic and a Standard hosting package (the next upgrade option), which is R50. The Standard account includes a quota of 30 GB, which exceeds the disk space used and will accommodate the over-usage.
Using this method, we will identify the most cost-effective disk usage charge, which in this case is the second scenario and would charge the customer a total of R50.
Volume Plan disk space over-usage
The cost of the Volume Plan will increase depending on the overall amount of disk usage you require. The monthly cost of the Volume Plan will be as follows:
Volume Plan SA & DE | Disk space quota | Price (includes VAT) |
Tier 1 | Less than 75 GB | R699 |
Tier 2 | 76 – 200 GB | R1299 |
Tier 3 | 201 – 500 GB | R1899 |
Tier 4 | 501 – 1100 GB | R2199 |
Should you exceed 1100 GB per month, disk overusage will be charged at R10 per GB.

To avoid disk over-usage charges, we recommend either reducing your disk usage or upgrading to a hosting package that meets your storage needs.
