Responsibilities in xneelo Cloud
Xneelo Cloud is a self-managed product, giving you flexibility and control over your Cloud infrastructure.
This means that responsibility is clearly divided between what you manage inside your cloud environment, and what xneelo manages as the cloud provider.
You are responsible for the stability, performance, and security of everything you run inside your cloud. xneelo is responsible for the underlying cloud platform and physical infrastructure that your cloud runs on.
This article explains those responsibility boundaries.
Your responsibility vs xneelo’s responsibility
The table below outlines how responsibility is shared between you and xneelo:
| Area | Your responsibility | xneelo’s responsibility |
| Applications | Your websites, content, and application data | No responsibility for the software you run |
| Backups | Implementing and managing backups (including offsite or external backups) | No automatic backups created or stored |

Security responsibilities
Securing your cloud environment is essential to protecting your data and workloads
You are responsible for securing:
- Your operating systems
- All installed software and services
- Access to your instances
- Data stored in your cloud
- Network access rules and firewall configuration
Xneelo is responsible for securing:
- The underlying cloud platform
- The physical hardware
- The core network infrastructure
- The data centre environment
If one of your instances becomes compromised, xneelo may take action to protect the wider platform. You will still remain responsible for investigating and securing your workloads.
