Allow or Block an email address

The information in this article is related to the new xneelo Control Panel.
If you are still using konsoleH, refer to this article.

All incoming mail on our network is scanned by a spam filter. If you want to unconditionally accept all emails from a particular address or domain and bypass the spam filter, then you should add the email address to the Allow List.

Adding an email to the Block List will result in the mail being rejected before it gets to your mailbox and it will be permanently deleted.

Note: It is not recommended to add your domain’s email address to the Allow List, i.e. adding info@example.com to the Allow List for the domain example.com. This is a potential security risk, as it allows emails to bypass anti-spoofing security checks (specifically SPF checks). This can allow spoofed emails to be filtered directly to the user’s inbox.

Steps

  • 1
Log in to the xneelo Control Panel.
  • 2
Select a Product from the side menu.
  • 3
Select or search for the specific domain name
  • 4
Under Mail tools, click on Allow & Block List.
  • 5
Click on Allow List or Block List at the top of the window.
    • Select the Add button, type in the email address and click Save.
    • To remove an email address from the Allow/Block List, click on the three dots to the right of the email address and select Delete.

What happens next

To Allow/Block a whole domain, wildcards are used eg. *@example.com or @example.com to Allow/Block all addresses on the example.com domain.

Should an email address be on both lists, the Allow List will take preference and the email will be delivered to your inbox.

Assist Note

Mail forwarding happens before any Allow/Block List or spam filtering is applied. If you have a mail forwarder in place, you need to set up Allow/Block Lists on the final email address.

Assist Tip

There is a quota of 500 email addresses for both the Allow List and the Block List. Should you exceed 500 addresses, you will first need to delete an email address before adding a new address to the Allow/Block List.
