My rack is closed with 2U blanking plates. Can I remove them?
The blanking plates are there to limit the escape of cold air outside the Colocation pod. This is done in order to maintain the temperature and pressure inside the pod. It also has a direct impact on the effectiveness of our cooling (reducing our power consumption and our carbon footprint). This means that all open areas must be closed off. You will need to remove the blanking plates where your equipment will be installed. The blanking plates that have been removed should be placed on the floor in front of the rack. Blanking plates will then be collected by the Hardware team and placed into storage for future use.
