Create your own private network in our data centre
In our ongoing commitment to offer customers a reliable, business-grade hosting service, we have implemented an enterprise level Juniper backlink/private network infrastructure in our Samrand Data Centre to provide greater scalability and expansion possibilities for our Self-Managed server customers.
Increased scalability
In the past, interconnecting servers to the backlink network often required servers to be relocated in order to be on the same switch fabric. The new solution reduces the necessity for servers to be moved. It is able to scale organically as the servers in your network grow, irrespective of their location in the data centre. Your server will simply connect to the nearest switch and automatically be connected to your existing private network.
Improved resilience & performance
The new private network architecture, built on best of breed Juniper technology, provides a high level of resilience and fault tolerance. Redundant power, redundant routing engines and a vastly improved switch fabric will ensure a high performing private network. With the improved infrastructure, all uplinks will be provisioned at 1Gbps.
Pricing
The infrastructure upgrade was implemented in mid February, with new backlink/private network port pricing taking effect on 1 March:
- R149 per month for all current and new links
- R295 set-up fee for new links
(Note that this applies to the Samrand data centre. Cape Town services are not affected.
