While these changes exist at the code level, website owners should understand that each update includes essential security and stability improvements, code maintenance, and support resources. These updates help ensure that your website continues to perform optimally.

How to prepare for your PHP upgrade

Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition to PHP 8.4:

  1. Back up your website
Always create a complete backup before making any significant changes.
  2. Update WordPress
Make sure you’re running the latest WordPress version.

  1. Your WordPress version installation is up-to-date
  2. Your plugins are compatible with PHP 8.4
  3. Your theme works with PHP 8.4

Some older plugins or themes might not be compatible with PHP 8.4. Testing in a staging environment is strongly recommended before updating your live site.
