How to verify your domain for G Suite and Google Mail

If you have a domain that is hosted with us and have registered for G Suite, you will need to verify with Google that you are authorised to administer the domain. Once verified, you will have access to a variety of G Suite applications, including Google Mail. This needs to be performed by the person listed with G Suite as the Administrator.

If you wish to use Gmail with G Suite, an additional step is needed once you are verified: your domain’s MX records need to be updated to direct mail flow to Google mail servers.

Step 1: Verify your domain

See G Suite Administrator Help

Step 2: Choose your preferred option

  • A. Add a record to your domain settings (recommended)

    1. Get your verification record.
    2. Log in to the xneelo Control Panel.
    3. Select a Product from the side menu.
    4. Search for and select the domain name.
    5. Select Manage DNS, under Domain Tools.
    6. Add the record provided:
    • Add a new record by clicking + Add record
    • Record type: choose TXT in the dropdown list
    • Host: insert @
    • Destination: Add the TXT record as supplied by G Suite. Make sure the record is in quotation marks eg: “google-site-verification=rXOxyZounnZasA8Z7oaD3c14JdjS9aKSWvsR1EbUSIQ“
    • Click Add
    1. Complete the domain verification – refer back to G Suite’s article.

Step 3: Gmail – Add MX records

Use the Manage DNS tool in the xneelo Control Panel to add the relevant MX records to direct your mail flow via Google’s mail servers. Our mail servers will no longer be responsible for your domain’s email.

  1. Log in to the xneelo Control Panel.
  2. Select a Product from the side menu.
  3. Search for and select the domain name.
  4. Under Domain Tools, select Manage DNS.
  5. To the right of + Add record, click on the vertical 3 dots menu and select Google Mail template.
  6. Click on Apply to automatically change the current records to those needed by Google. You will notice that some records are added (green) and others deleted (red).
  7. Should you ever want to revert back to hosting your mail via xneelo mail servers, simply return to this page and select the xneelo Mail template to revert to default settings.
