How to manage a domain’s DNS records via the xneelo Control Panel

The information in this article is related to the new xneelo Control Panel.
If you are still using konsoleH, refer to this article.

The Manage DNS tool in the xneelo Control Panel enables you to update your domain’s DNS records.

Note: The Manage DNS tool is available to the Account owner, Account Administrator and Technical administrator. Reference our collaborators tool for further information.


  • Access the Manage DNS tool

    1. Browse to the xneelo Control Panel and log in.
    2. Select a Product from the side menu.
    3. Select the domain name.
    4. Under Domain tools, select Manage DNS.
    5. The DNS tool will open, displaying all the current DNS records for the domain.
    6. A variety of tasks can be completed within the Manage DNS tool:
    • Edit an existing record
    • Add a new record
    • Delete a record
    • Use a template to easily update your mail records for use with Outlook for Office 365 or Google Mail, as well as templates to revert back to our default settings
    • Import (upload) a file containing multiple zone records or export (download) a copy of the zone records allows for easy DNS backup





  • How to edit a record

    1. Access the Manage DNS tool and search for the relevant record by scrolling through the various records (narrow your choice by selecting the record type).
    2. Navigate to the 3 dots menu to the right of the record and select Edit.
    3. Make the relevant changes e.g. replace IP address.
    4. Select Cancel or Save.
    5. A success message will appear once your change has been saved.





  • How to add a record

    1. Access the Manage DNS tool and click + Add record.
    2. Select the record type that you would like to add from the Type drop-down list.
    3. Complete the relevant fields and click Save.
    4. If multiple records are to be added, select the ‘Remain on this page after adding record’ box.
    5. A success message will appear on the top of your screen.





  • How to delete a record

    1. Access the Manage DNS tool and search for the relevant record by scrolling through the various records (narrow your choice by selecting the record type).
    2. Navigate to the 3 dots menu to the right of the record and select Delete.
    3. You will be prompted to confirm your request. Select Delete.
    4. A success message will appear on the top of your screen once the record has been deleted.





  • How to use a zone template

    1. Access the Manage DNS tool and click on the 3 dots menu next to the ‘+ Add record’ button.
    2. Select the relevant template e.g. Office 365.
    3. A preview of the full DNS zone record will appear. Records that will be deleted will be indicated in red and records that will be added will be indicated in green.
    4. To proceed, click Apply.
    5. A success message will appear once the template has been applied.

    Note: This step is reversible. To change back to using xneelo for mail, simply return to the apply templates tab and choose the xneelo mail template





  • How to import or export zone records

    1. Access the Manage DNS tool and click on the 3 dots menu next to the ‘+ Add record’ button.
    2. Select Import zone or Export zone.
    • To Import zone records, click Import zone and then select the relevant file that you want to import from your computer.
    • To Export a file containing all your DNS details, click Export zone. A .txt file will be downloaded to your computer.



What happens next

Once you have added or changed your DNS records, allow 2 to 24 hours for DNS propagation to complete

Incorrect DNS changes can interfere with the operation of your website and/or email, so make changes with care.

Assist Tip

Self-Managed Server customers who wish to add reverse (PTR) DNS records for their allocated IP addresses are not able to do so via the Manage DNS tool and will need to contact us from their authorised email address.
