How to verify your domain for Office 365
If you have registered for Office 365 for your domain hosted with xneelo, you will need to verify with Microsoft Office that you are authorised to administer the domain. This needs to be performed by the person listed with Office 365 as the Administrator.
Secondly, once you are verified, your domain’s DNS records need to be updated to direct mail flow to Office 365 mail servers.
See: Microsoft Office Support for details.
Verify your domain
Within the Office 365 setup wizard, you will be prompted to add a TXT DNS record at the DNS host website for your domain. If xneelo is your DNS host, this is done by accessing our Manage DNS tool within the xneelo Control Panel.
Access the Manage DNS tool
- Log into the xneelo Control Panel.
- On the Products page, select the specific domain name.
- Select Manage DNS under Domain Tools.
-
- Type: choose TXT in the dropdown list
- Host insert @
- Value: Add your unique TXT record information as supplied by Office 365. It will be in the format of “MS=msXXXXXXX”.
- Click Add Add the record provided
- After you add the record, go back to the Office 365 portal and confirm that you’ve added it, so Office 365 can check.
Edit MX records
Now that your domain is verified, you need to specify that Office 365 mail servers are responsible for your mail rather than xneelo’s mail servers.
- Click on the 3 dots menu next to + Add Record.
- Choose Office 365 template from the list.
- Select Apply to automatically change the current records to those needed by Office 365. You will notice that some records are added (green) and others deleted (red).
- Should you ever want to revert back to hosting your mail via xneelo mail servers, simply return to this page and select the xneelo mail template to revert to default settings.
Note
- Once you have added or changed the required DNS records, allow 2 to 24 hours for DNS propagation to complete.
- Incorrect DNS changes can interfere with the operation of your website and/or email, so make changes with care.
