FAQs: How to upgrade to PHP 8.3 via the xneelo Control Panel

You can check the PHP version your site is using by following these steps:

   Select a Product (e.g. Web Hosting) from the side menu.

   Search for and click on the domain name.

   Under Hosting Tools, select PHP Config to view your PHP version.

Yes, the upgrade will affect all customers using PHP 8.2.

• If you’re using PHP version 8.2, your site will be automatically upgraded to PHP 8.3 in August 2026.
• PHP version 8.2 security support still runs until November 2026.  PHP 8.2 will be permanently removed from our servers in December 2026.
• If your site is not compatible with the PHP 8.3, your site will need to be updated.

Newer versions of PHP often introduce changes that are not compatible with older code. Older plugins, themes or code that were written for an older version of PHP may use code that is no longer supported in the newer version, leading to compatibility issues.

To ensure compatibility, it’s recommended that your site is updated and ready for the PHP upgrade by checking the following:

• Check compatibility with the new version: Before upgrading to a new version, use the PHP Compatibility Scanner to test if your site is compatible with the new version.
• Upgrade your CMS: If you are using a content management system such as WordPress, make sure to upgrade it to the latest version that is compatible with the new version of PHP.
• Upgrade your plugins and themes: Make sure that your themes and plugins are updated to their latest versions.
• Upgrade PHP version: Once you have completed all the above steps, you can upgrade your PHP version to the latest version. Make sure to test your website thoroughly after the upgrade to ensure that everything is working correctly.

If you have followed the above steps and your website is not working, you can roll back to the previous PHP version temporarily and then troubleshoot at a convenient time. You may require a developer to help you if you are unable to fix the error on your own.

   Scroll down to Hosting tools and select PHP Config.

   Under the Configuration tab, select Edit next to PHP Config.

   Select your choice of PHP version.

   Click Save.

The update will be completed automatically.

Browse to your website to check if your website is compatible with the newer PHP version. If not, you can downgrade to PHP 8.2 and contact a web developer to make the necessary changes to your website.

Refer to the Compatibility Scanner  to scan your website for potential compatibility issues. If any errors are found, you can downgrade to PHP 8.2 and have your web developer make the necessary changes before the automatic upgrade in November.
