Platforms for community upliftment
UPMRKT is a digital agency that focuses on community development. “Our business evolved over the years to offer website, e-commerce, marketing and consulting to provide a 360 service offering,” explains Gustav Penny, the co-founder of UPMRKT and Blue Heart Communities. “Our key focus is now mainly community development which falls under our umbrella brand called Blue Heart Communities. We have set up over 150 community Facebook groups nationwide.”
Their biggest group is I Love Fourways with over 60,000 members. These groups are moderated by a team of almost 70 moderators. Blue Heart Communities are the strongest compilation of Facebook neighbourhood communities in South Africa. “These groups, founded on integrity and experience, are the leading source of trustworthy live information and community involvement,” says Gustav.
Always innovating
“What sets UPMRKT apart is that we always have our finger on the pulse with technology – we think of ourselves as digital disruptors,” says Gustav. “We’re a dynamic team and pride ourselves on staying on top by providing turnkey solutions for our customers and website audiences.”
Gustav’s most helpful advice was given to him by his father: “Never, never, never give up!”

“Our websites are our driving tools to reach new customers and to provide factual information to improve day-to-day living,” says Gustav.
