How to use the Linux Rescue system on your Self-Managed Server

The Linux Rescue system is used for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash.

Steps

  • 1
Browse to your xneelo Control Panel and log in.
  • 2
Under Products in the side menu, select Self-Managed Servers.
  • 3
Click on the server you would like to access.
  • 4
On the Product Overview screen, click on the Linux Rescue System icon.
  • 5
    Select Activate.
  • 6
Reboot your server within 10 minutes of performing this action via the RMM / IPMI device and ensure that you select the correct boot order.
Note: Linux Rescue System requires network boot (PXE). If your server does not default to network boot as the first boot option, you will need to access the boot menu during startup (using your motherboard's specific boot menu key) and select the Network/PXE/LAN option.
  • 7
Once rebooted, your server will PXE boot and load the rescue system into memory.
  • 8
Log in with the username and password provided at activation time, either from the console or via SSH access.
  • 9
From inside the terminal, you can mount and access your server data or perform recovery operations.
Assist Note

To ensure the server boots via PXE into the Linux Rescue environment, please make sure that Network Boot is set as the first boot option in the BIOS, or manually select the Network Boot option during POST.
