Internal Account Transfer FAQ

Domains and their associated hosting packages can be transferred internally between two xneelo accounts. This process is referred to as an Internal Account Transfer.

This article answers some frequently asked questions about this process.

  • Who should initiate the transfer?

The account holder that the domain and/or hosting package should move to is responsible for initiating the transfer.

  • How is the transfer approved?

Once an Internal Account Transfer has been submitted, the current account holder (Losing party) will receive an email with an authorisation code. The current account holder will use this authorisation code to approve the transfer via their control panel.

  • How long will the transfer take?

The current account holder (Losing party) has 10 days in which to approve the transfer. Once approved, the transfer can take up to 72 business hours to complete.

If the transfer is not approved within 10 days, the transfer request will be declined automatically.

  • Are emails and web content automatically included in transfers?

No. The Losing party may decline website content, which includes databases.
If they approve the transfer but decline website content, only the domain name and email will move.

  • Are Parked or Multiple domains automatically included in transfers?

No. Parked and Multiple domains are approved or declined at the discretion of the Losing party.

  • Will my emails or website go down during a transfer?

While rare, downtime is possible when a domain moves from one server to another. This is sometimes necessary to accommodate a transfer.

DNS propagation, website configuration and mail server settings are some factors outside of xneelo’s control that may impact website and email functionality during a transfer.

If you experience service disruptions after a successful transfer, you’re welcome to request assistance.

  • What can I do if my transfer request is declined?

After your initial request, you can resubmit the transfer request. If declined, we suggest reaching out to the current account owner to find out why they are declining your request and what you can do to make it a success.

While submitting the transfer request, you will also have the opportunity to send a message to the account holder that is managing the domain name/hosting package. Include as much information as possible to ensure that the current account holder is aware of the transfer.

  • Should I update my FTP password after a successful transfer?

Yes. FTP Passwords are automatically assigned to a domain after a successful transfer. However, it’s good practice to regularly change passwords to prevent unauthorised access to your information.

Assist Note

If your domain is not using xneelo Name Servers, it will be your responsibility to update your DNS settings if your server IP address has changed.
