How to set up two-factor authentication in the xneelo Control Panel

The information in this article is related to the new xneelo Control Panel.
If you are still using konsoleH, refer to this article.

Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on your xneelo account adds an extra step in the authentication process, helping keep your account safe in the event that your login credentials are compromised.

To add an extra layer of security beyond your password, you can choose between 3 methods:

  • Install an Authenticator application on your mobile device, which generates time-based one-time passcodes (TOTP).
  • SMS one-time code is a temporary code sent via SMS to your phone number.
  • Register a Security key, a physical device that provides hardware-based authentication for even stronger protection.

These methods enhance the security of your account, ensuring that only you can access it.

  • Install an Authenticator application

    1. 1
Log in to the xneelo Control Panel.
    2. 2
Select the initials icon in the top right-hand corner.
    3. 3
Select Security from the drop-down menu.
    4. 4
Under Two-factor authentication (2FA), select Set up next to Authenticator application.
    5. 5
Download and install one of the following apps on your mobile device from your app store: Google Authenticator or Twilio Authy
    6. 6
You will have the option of either scanning a QR code or entering a key in the application. Select the option you would prefer. Please be cautious when using unapproved apps to scan QR codes.
    • If you choose to scan the QR code, open your authenticator application and scan the QR code provided in the control panel.
    • If you choose to enter a key, open your authenticator application and enter the key and configuration values in the fields provided.
    1. 7
The application will then provide you with a one-time code. Enter the one-time code in the field provided in the control panel and enter your device name. Then click on Save.
    2. 8
Congratulations! Your two-factor authentication has been successfully configured.

Note: Click on Add another device if you would like to use another device for authentication.

  • Set up SMS one-time code

    1. 1
Log in to the xneelo Control Panel.
    2. 2
Select the initials icon in the top right-hand corner.
    3. 3
Select Security from the drop-down menu.
    4. 4
Under Two-factor authentication (2FA), select Set up next to SMS one-time code.
    5. 5
      Switch toggle to ON.
    6. 6
Confirm your phone number (the phone number stored under My profile). Then click Send code.
    7. 7
Enter the one-time code you received via SMS and select Verify code.
    8. 8
SMS one-time code is now enabled.
    9. 9
You will receive a 6-digit OTP via SMS the next time you log in to your account.

  • Register a Security key

Please note that security keys for 2FA are only partially supported on Firefox and Linux.

    1. 1
Log in to the xneelo Control Panel.
    2. 2
Select the initials icon in the top right-hand corner.
    3. 3
Select Security from the drop-down menu.
    4. 4
Under Two-factor authentication (2FA), select Set up next to Security key to register your security key.
    5. 5
      Register your security key.
    6. 6
The successfully registered Security key will be visible under the Security key section.
    7. 7
Congratulations! You can now use your Security key to log into the xneelo Control Panel.
    8. 8
On your next login attempt, you’ll be prompted to use your Security key to complete the authentication process after entering your password.

    Note:

    • Click on Add another to register another Security key.
    • You can remove a Security key by clicking on the 3 dots menu and selecting Remove.

What happens next

Click on Add another device if you would also like to use another device for authentication.

Assist Note

You’ll be prompted to complete two-factor authentication each time you log in, unless you select the “Keep me logged in for 7 days” checkbox when logging in.

If you’ve lost your 2FA device and you did not configure a backup, please contact us for assistance.

Assist Tip

To enhance your security and provide a seamless login experience, we’ve integrated Google Authentication with our xneelo Control Panel.
