How to set up email in Outlook 2024

This step-by-step guide takes you through the process of setting up a new email account in Outlook 2024.

To set up your email account on Outlook, first ensure that:

♦ Replace example.com with your domain name.

Steps

    Open Outlook (new) and enter the email address you would like to add and click Continue.

    When setting up your new account in the new Outlook, you’ll be prompted to select a provider. You can choose either IMAP or POP3. 
    Note: Outlook may skip this step. Please ensure to click on Select provider when the option is provided.

    On the following screen enter your email password and select the Show more toggle option.

    You may configure your mailbox server settings as follows:
    • Incoming server(IMAP/POP): mail.example.com
    • Port: 993 for IMAP or 995 for POP3
    • Secure connection type: SSL/TLS
    • Outgoing server(SMTP): smtp.example.com
    • Port: 465
    • Secure connection type: SSL/TLS

    Select Continue and follow the prompts until your account has been successfully created.

Assist Note

In isolated cases mail.domain (e.g. mail.my-domain.co.za) and smtp.domain won’t work. In these cases you will need to use the server name instead e.g. www34.cpt1.host-h.net. Find my server name.
