Colocation: Getting started

Once you’ve ordered your Colocation rack and received confirmation that it is ready, you’ll be able to get started. Here’s some introductory information to assist you.

Visiting the data centre

Anyone entering the data centre for the first time needs to make an appointment to arrange biometric access and for credentials to be verified. Appointments can be scheduled between 8 am to 5 pm weekdays via email.

One of our staff members will meet you and guide you through the following procedures:

  • Security System Enrollment
  • An overview of our Data Centre’s Access Control
  • Guide you to your Colocation Rack
  • Demonstrate how to operate the Colocation Rack
  • Unattended access for repeat visits

Ensure visitor details are added to the Data Centre Access tool via the Control Panel before scheduling appointments.

If you’re expecting any hardware deliveries to our data centre, please be sure to arrange them with our team. Any packages delivered without prior notification will not be accepted.

Setting up your rack

STS Switch

It is highly advisable that an STS switch be installed inside each rack, in the event power is lost to one of the feeds. Also, this is pertinent if equipment inside the rack does not have dual PSU

Blanking Plates

The purpose of the blanking plates are to limit the escape of cold air outside the Colocation pod, to maintain the temperature and pressure inside the pod which has a direct impact on the effectiveness of our cooling (reducing our power consumption and our carbon footprint).

Therefore should there be an open unit which is not in use we will replace the blanking plate on your behalf.

Brush Panels

We appeal to our customers to make use of a brush panel should you wish to lead cables through an open unit within your Colocation rack.

A & B Power Feeds

The A & B power feeds are for redundancy purposes. It is highly advisable that an STS switch be installed inside each rack, in the event power is lost to one of the feeds. This is especially pertinent if the equipment inside the rack does not have dual PSU.
